Our garden for the 2021 Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas, on a Preston Hollow estate large enough to need definition and focus. Starting where the rear terrace and pool decking end, we built custom wood trellises, stained in Benjamin Moore Silhouette, to enclose a series of garden rooms and frame views into the rest of the garden. The treillage garden is the formal room: clipped boxwood and holly, espaliered silverberry, a custom water feature, a fire pit, and an iron-and-wood table by Brendan Bass set for entertaining under the trees. Beyond it, the main garden opens into flowing curves with looser, layered planting. At the far end, we reimagined an existing playhouse as a pavilion honoring Thomas Jefferson, a private hideaway for the garden lover. We return in 2026 to design the front garden and center island.
